Have you ever had those days, where they start out just okay, maybe even not so great and then unexpectedly it turns into something pretty special? You know one of those days where words can't quite explain how good it is....and maybe photos really are worth a thousand words. I think yesterday was one of those days.
Kennedy, Maddy and i went to The Artist's Colony in Encinitas to watch Beka's singing recital...Beka is a tiny, gorgeous, ball of crazy cool energy with a voice that will surely give you goose bumps, because she's that good. Ella Fitzgerald would have been proud. Beka's rendition of *At Last* was amazing...It is hard to believe such a powerful and soulful sound comes from a girl that young and that small.
After the concert, I had to take advantage of an amazing photo opportunity, in the alley behind the Artist Colony. Thank goodness Kennedy's friends are used to me constantly snapping pictures, so it didn't take much to get the photo party started.
The house in the background of these photos gives new meaning to *Altered*. It is truly altered from the roof to the foundation and everything inbetween. Every inch is painted and collaged. There is soooo much going on it is hard to take it all in. I am sure it took years for the couple who lives here to create this work of *art*. The sad part is the property has been sold and is slated to become condominiums, and the *art* must go. You can be sure i will be going back down there for a few more photo shoots before it becomes rubble.
